The man who saved the world

I'd never heard his name before, but I heard of his existence. It's weird to think that this Russian military man probably saved more lives--and in that sense did more good--than maybe anyone ever (perhaps Jonas Salk or some other medical researcher can boast comparable numbers). 

His ability to use commonsense reasoning in this tense a situation is as impressive as any heroic acts I've ever heard of. An interesting pull quote: “We are wiser than the computers.” We certainly aren't smarter than computers at many tasks, but in almost any task we are still wiser.
